“As someone highly influenced by the emotive power of music, I perform to engage new listeners, inspire audiences and create experiences that are unforgettable. I want to give to people moments that ultimately inspired me to become a musician, and create memories that audiences will cherish forever”

~Kristian Scott

Kristian Scott began studying voice under Christopher Bradley whilst a student at St Peters Lutheran College. Under Christopher Bradley’s tutelage Kristian thrived, and later performed the “Offertoire” Baritone solo in Gabriel Fauré’s “Requiem” at the Griffith University Conservatorium in Brisbane – his first public outing as a soloist. During this time he was also part of the St Peters Lutheran Chorale – renowned internationally for the performance of Australian Contemporary choral music as well as Classical choral music, both liturgical and secular.

After graduation in 2013, Kristian went on a tour of Europe with the St Peters Lutheran College Chorale, performing both European and Contemporary Australian works as a chorister and soloist in spaces such as Canterbury Cathedral, Bath Abbey, Bristol Cathedral, Winchester Cathedral, Christ Church Cathedral in the United Kingdom and St. Jürgen-Kirche, Meldorf Dom and St Stephens in Germany.

He continued his vocal studies with Shaun Brown at the University of Queensland where he completed a Bachelor of Music (Hons) Majoring in Extended Performance. Whilst studying at the University of Queensland Kristian has been a guest performer with many ensembles such as: The Australian Voices, University of Queensland Chorale, University of Queensland Chamber Singers and St John’s Cathedral Singers, taking every opportunity to learn and refine his craft.

During his time at the University of Queensland, Kristian performed solos within Handel’s “Messiah”, Bach’s “Cantata no.37”, Bruckner’s “Requiem in D Minor” as well as being a covering soloist for UQSO’s 2018 performance of Fauré’s “Requiem”. Notable operatic roles include ‘The Drunken Poet’ in Purcell’s “The Fairy Queen” (2017) and ‘Bartolo’ in Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” (2018). Kristian’s final role at the University of Queensland required him to learn the first scene of Wagner’s “Das Rheingold” as ‘Alberich’ (in two weeks!)

Kristian completed his Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours. His honours lecture-recital “On Polyphonic Overtone singing and the Classical Voice” was met with surprise and high appraise.

Kristian continued his studies at the Queensland Conservatorium at Griffith University and completed a Masters of Music Studies. His first role in 2019 was ‘Brétingy’ in an excerpt from Massenet’s opera “Manon”. From there, he went on to perform in Opera Queensland’s production of Verdi’s Requiem, QCGU’s production of Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera, and as a soloist with the Noosa Orchestra in the region’s Noosa Alive Festival. Kristian also performed a role study of Don Giovanni from the opera of the same name.

In November, Kristian made his regional debut as “Betto di Signa” in Opera Gold Coast’s production of Gianni Schicchi. He received a successful review from his performance of this role. In 2020, he was due to travel to China for his first international tour of Barber of Seville with Australian International Productions – unfortunately postponed due to Covid-19.

On Opera Gold Coast’s Gianni Schicchi, 2019

“…Also carrying out their character’s emotional and vocal responsibilities with success…Kristian Scott as Betto di Signa who carved out a clarion-clear exposition of the mourner’s problem from an apologetic “Lo dicono a Signa” to a firm declaration of the same rumour that sets his family into a fury of angry dispossession”

– Clive O’Connell, Former Chief Music Critic of The Age

More recently, Kristian performed the Australian National Anthem at the QRL Grand Final and he has toured as a Backing Vocalist with Mirusia as part of her “Salute to the Seekers and Classics” Tour and her Songbird Concert Tour.

He has also been actively participating as a Backing Vocalist in the Lord Mayors Christmas Carols and other local events including the Redlands Christmas Carols. In this role, Kristian has performed alongside artists such as John Foreman, Mirusia, Luke Kennedy, Reece Mastin, The Lah Lah Band, Patrice Tapoki, Alexa Curtis, and Christine Anu and Jason Barry-Smith.

In his training, Kristian has studied with renowned performers such as Andrew Collis, Johannes Fritzsch, Donald Kasch and Bradley Daley. In choral ensembles, Kristian has had the privilege of studying with the King’s Singers in 2015 and 2017 at their King’s Singers’ Summer School at Royal Holloway at the University of London. He has also worked with the British vocal ensemble I Fagiolini, ex-King’s Singer Paul Phoenix and renowned Composer-Conductor Eric Whitacre. With this large base of knowledge, Kristian is always incorporating many new techniques from these and new experiences into his own teachings, studies and practices.
